Project Info: This mixed townhome and multi-family development includes over 170 units in its second phase. Capitol Quarter has a dense urban footprint located close to Capitol Hill amenities, Eastern Market and Nationals Stadium. These homes have water saving fixtures, energy efficient lighting and appliances and reduced infiltration.

Project Info: Home Properties is completing 9 buildings in this multifamily development with 302 units seeking NAHB Green Silver status. Everyday Green will serve as the verifier and consultant on air sealing and building shell details to achieve maximum efficiency within the owner’s budget. The buildings feature ENERGY STAR lighting and appliances, high-efficiency irrigation systems and a prime location within walking distance to downtown amenities.

Project Info: The NIST Net Zero Energy Residential Test Facility aims to be a living laboratory of building science. The home will be used by the Building Environment Division at NIST to research performance, indoor air quality, energy efficiency and the viability of net zero homes. The home has multiple systems allowing for reconfiguration of mechanical systems, solar thermal and solar PV systems as well as future incorporation of smart grid technologies. The home even comes complete with a mechanical family to simulate occupant usage. The home is getting to net zero with extensive continuous insulation, advanced framing, significantly reduced infiltration and solar PV among other strategies.

Project Info: SEED builders is working to introduce a new type of home to the luxury marketplace - one that will be charming on the outside, cozy on the inside and energy-efficient all around. Project Info: Howeowner and architect Todd Ray is building his dream home from an existing home in Arlington, VA. He’s salvaging as much from the existing site as possible and adding his own modern flair. The new home is designed to optimize daylighting and has geothermal, sprayfoam, an efficient hot water layout and will meet the Indoor airPLUS requirements.

Project Info: Everyday Green’s Green Building Director Scott Pusey is taking this traditional foursquare style home in Lititz, PA through an extensive green upgrade. To avoid demolishing the existing plaster walls, he insulated from the inside out with structurally insulated sheathing and rigid foam on the exterior walls. Sprayfoam insulation in the attic and replacement windows where necessary make for more affordable but well-targeted efficiency upgrades.
